Running pace calculators

Use a pace converter when you have a time, a distance or a treadmill speed and need pace. Use a race planning tool when you have a goal finish time or a recent result and need paces, splits or a prediction.

How the tools work together

  1. Start with a recent result in the mile pace calculator to see your current pace.
  2. Look up that pace in the pace chart to see matching speeds and finish times.
  3. Use the race time predictor or the training pace calculator to turn the result into goals and training paces.
  4. Plan the race with the 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon calculator, which list the splits to expect at every mile and kilometer.
  5. If you run on a treadmill, convert the display speed with the mph to min/mile converter.

What every calculator has in common

Every tool uses the same tested formulas, shows results as minutes and seconds, and runs in your browser, so the numbers you type are not sent to a server. The constants and sources are described in the methodology, and the limits of each method are stated on its page. Results are estimates for planning. Read the disclaimer before using them to plan hard efforts.
